Vanadium
Vanadium is another trace mineral which has only recently been proved to be necessary for human health. Around 1900 it was believed to be a miracle cure by some however unfortunately at the doses that were being prescribed it turned out to be highly toxic and therefore its popularity declined.
It is believed that it may be useful in the control of high blood sugar, may help to prevent tooth decay and encourage normal tissue growth.
Natural sources of Vanadium are seafood.
There are no known symptoms of deficiency however it is thought that diets high in Vitamin C may reduce the levels in the body.
There are no RDA figures specified in the US and there are no supplements which contain just Vanadium although some high end modern multi-vitamin supplements may contain low doses. In high quantities Vanadium is highly toxic and has been linked to manic depression.
