Tone Up for Summer
Though you might not be in beach mode yet, this is the time to start prepping for swimsuit season.
If you packed on some pounds during “winter hibernation,” you can wake up your body with fitness and nutrition. Daily activity with plenty of cardio is your best bet for weight loss. But keep in mind that it’s necessary to watch what you eat, too. Choose lean proteins, plenty of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and reduced-fat dairy; remember to drink water, too.
To really look great in short sleeves, shorts, and swimsuits, you also need to include strength training:
Abs. You can tone your abs using a variety of moves including plank holds, back lifts, and crunches — but be sure to do some crunches with a twist so you also target your obliques.
Legs. While many cardio activities such as walking and running will help tone your leg muscles, it’s also good to add some strength moves such as lunges, leg lifts, and squats.
Arms. Want your arms to look great? Try some strength moves for your biceps, triceps, and shoulder muscles.
