Slimming Cream? Fat chance!
A lotion that will “noticeably firm skin in just four weeks” sound too good to be true. And it is. Nivea recently stopped selling its My Silhouette! Redefining Gel-Cream. The company reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission about that overblown claim. Nivea said it doesn’t believe that consumers were misled, but the company avoided an expensive lawsuit by agreeing to pay $900,000 in restitution to people who bought the cream.
Nivea still sells two Good-Bye Cellulite lotions that it claims reduce the appearance of cellulite if you apply them regularly. But Nivea posts this disclaimer on its website: “No topical product has been shown to eliminate cellulite”. The frustrating truth is that no miracle product will get rid of those lumps and bumps, so save your money!
